This campaign raised awareness for Yelp’s Waitlist feature precisely at the time when diners would most appreciate it—while they’re hungry and waiting for a table. We grabbed their attention with amusing, thought-provoking headlines that validated their feelings in the moment, and then we let them know that there’s a better way to get a table.

Selling with empathy and hope
In May 2020, local businesses were just beginning to reopen after the initial COVID lockdown. To help business owners bring customers back, Yelp offered users a heavily discounted Reopen Plan. Given the hard times, I wanted the copy to be empathetic, while also giving people hope for better days ahead.
The result? An unheard of clickthrough rate of 59%.
